Ian Godfrey

With prolonged experience in managing change and incorporating new, alternative technologies and solutions has made Ian ideal for developing the approaches needed to adopt continuous improvement. The skills learnt to develop creative solutions are borne from finding answers where none are obvious and pushing boundaries to unearth alternatives from conventional and unconventional ideas. Ian assists, and leads, teams to tackle new challenges and cope with change management as well as influencing people to use their experience to see where change can improve operations and processes to save costs, improve safety and quality.

Ian has over 30 years experience within Manufacturing, much of that at management and senior management level. He was involved in the early computerised technology that re-shaped the printing industry in the 1980's; he also provided software and technical consultancy along with training to major blue-chip companies (Merrill Lynch, Goldman Sachs, Credit Suisse First Boston, Deutsche Bank etc.).

Ian moved on to Factory General Manager in central London, responsible for services to Merrill Lynch, CSFB, Lehman Brothers and other leading financial banks. Success led to a move to the USA to manage an 80+ pre-press service operation. During four years, Ian developed new workflows, new methods of working and the development of KPIs and measures that drove improvement and improved productivity and quality.

After returning to the UK Ian joined one of the largest Point-of-Sale companies in the UK. With business improvement responsibilities, introducing lean techniques and tools and mentoring for managers; along with lean training. New methods of working were developed to generate cost savings, with the introduction of load balancing techniques and improved work processes; methods which continue to add value today. All this culminated in the business being selected as a finalist in the BPIF Lean Manufacturing Excellence Awards 2008.

Ian was invited to join the National Skills Academy for Manufacturing in 2008 as an independent trainer. Skills Academy trainers adopt leading edge training and techniques to deliver the best content in the most powerful way possible and integrate activities that deliver results and benefits to trainees and businesses.

Ian has also been responsible for ISO9001/2000 Quality Management Systems and is a fully trained Lead Auditor; combining ISO philosophy with business improvement techniques and culture.
